Surowe Manufactory
The history of our Manufactory
Surowe Manufactury was established in 2021.
The name indicates the nature of our production: Manufaktura, i.e. handicraft, because we value manual work higher than machine production.
“Surowe” – which is “Raw” in Polish, because the main place of production is the village of Surowe near Pasłęk, and also because our products are minimally processed, almost raw, which ensures maximum preservation of natural ingredients and their qualities in the building material.
Our aim is to produce and promote building with natural materials. The main core of production is dried bricks and building materials made from clay.
In the field of production of dried bricks we continue the achievements of BTM Jurkiewicz company and the achievements of an outstanding specialist in traditional construction methods, engineer Ryszard Jurkiewicz.
Phd. Ryszard Jurkiewicz started the production of sun dried bricks at the beginning of the 1990s and for three decades he continuously carried out this activity and organized many undertakings restoring traditional building from natural materials, mainly from clay (e.g. building from beaten clay in the Ecological Park in Pasłęk). As heirs to Phd. Jurkiewicz’s work, we are trying to continue his mission and develop traditional building with natural materials in Poland.
The production manager, Mr. Krzysztof Mendyk and members of the crew making bricks have worked with Phd. R. Jurkiewicz since the beginning of the 21st century, to their twenty years of experience we owe the excellent quality of our products.
